This Filthy World is a documentary of John Waters's touring one-man show. In this version of the show, he discusses his origins in the underground films, and his ongoing career in the Hollywood system.
Filmed in New York in 2006, Waters emerges from a confessional onto a stage littered with trash. After a few stories about his childhood and early influences, he roughly follows the chronology filmography, relating anecdotes about the making of each film and letting those stories lead him to riffs on other topics.
John still tours This Filthy World on a regular basis, and has updated it over time.
