Wears Cha-Cha Heels
Last Saturday night I knew I had arrived. It started when I met John Waters at his XXX-Mas show in San Francisco, fulfilling a 20 year dream. I showed him my feet, that I had 'Nice girls don't wear cha-cha heels' tattooed on in tribute to my favorite director and possibly favorite film of his. It
amused me that he asked me if it was permanent. I asked him to sign my feet
and he graciously did as well as my select chosen films that I had brought
with me. I also managed to sneak a photo with him (I'm the red head). The best part happened a few nights later when he spoke at UCLA. I had a friend who attended the show, and during his monologue while he was talking about obsessive fans he's met over the years, he said just a few nights ago he met a girl who had 'Nice girls don't wear cha-cha heels' tattooed on her feet, talking about me! [It's true - he mentioned it in New York too! - Editor] I laughed an cried and got goose bumps. In
1985, when I was 10 years old, I rented Polyester, sparking an obsession
that grew with each new film. I luckily grew up with a very cool mom who
catered to my 'independent' tastes. I now own everything released associated
with John Waters name. Meeting him this year was a dream come true. My new dream is to work on his films, as I am a hairdresser and would love to work with Van Smith and the like. |
